Privacy Policy
Last updated 12 September 2026
GameDial is made by Gamic Arts. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your game library lives on your device and in your own iCloud, there are no accounts, and nothing you do in the app is tracked or sold.
Where your library lives
Your library, which games are on which shelf, your progress notes, your wish list and your settings are stored on your device. If you leave iCloud sync on, they are also stored in your own iCloud account so they follow you between your devices.
Gamic Arts cannot see any of it either way. Synced data goes to Apple's iCloud under your Apple ID, not to us. We operate no database of user libraries and have no means of reading yours. There is no GameDial account and no sign-up.
You can turn iCloud sync off in the app's Settings, in which case your library stays on the device it was made on. Deleting the app removes the local copy. The iCloud copy is removed from your Apple ID storage settings, the same as for any other app.
What leaves your device, and when
GameDial talks to outside services only when a feature needs it.
Searching for games and release dates
When you search for a game, open a game's details, or view upcoming releases, the app sends that search term or game identifier to our server, which passes it to IGDB, a games database operated by Amazon Web Services, Inc., to fetch titles, cover art, genres, ratings, play-time estimates and release dates.
The AI features
The AI features send text to our server, which passes it to a model provider to generate a response. What is sent depends on which feature you use.
- Asking for a game in your own words sends only the sentence you typed. Nothing about your library goes with it.
- Catch me up and the progress estimate send the name of the game you are asking about, and the note you wrote about where you left off.
- Plan my backlog sends the games on your backlog shelf: each one's title, its estimated length, its genres and its rating.
- Your gaming personality, and the game suggestions that follow from it, send the titles in your library along with the genres and themes they are made up of.
Those last two are the only features that send anything about your library, and only at the moment you open them. What goes out is the games and the metadata attached to them, never your own progress notes. Nothing identifying you is sent with it, because there is no account, name or email address to send.
The model provider is Google LLC (the Gemini API) or Anthropic PBC (the Claude API). We use one as the primary and the other as a fallback for when the first is unavailable, so either may handle a given request. Under both providers' terms for paid API access, none of this text is used to train their models.
Importing your Steam library
If you choose to import from Steam, you sign in on Steam's own page. GameDial never sees your Steam password. Once you approve, Steam gives the app your public Steam ID, which is stored on your device and sent to our server to fetch your list of owned games and how long you have played each one.
Crash reports
If GameDial crashes or freezes, iOS may hand the app a diagnostic report containing a stack trace, the app version, and the device model and iOS version. It is sent to our server so the bug can be fixed. This is gathered by Apple's own MetricKit, never contains your library or anything you typed, carries no identifier for you or your device, and is only produced after something has already gone wrong.
Our server
GameDial's server is a Cloudflare Worker that exists so that credentials for the services above never ship inside the app. It sits between your device and those services.
It does not require or receive any account, name, email address or device identifier, and it keeps no user profiles. Requests are rate-limited per IP address to prevent abuse, which involves counting recent requests from an IP address. Responses are cached so repeated questions do not have to be asked again; those caches are keyed by the content of the request and expire automatically. Cloudflare may also log IP addresses as part of operating its network, as described in Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no sign-ups, no email addresses.
- No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers, and no SDKs that watch what you do. Crash reports are the only diagnostics collected, and they describe a failure rather than your behaviour.
- No tracking across other apps or websites. GameDial does not ask for the App Tracking Transparency permission because it has nothing to track you with.
- No selling or sharing of personal information. We have nothing to sell.
Subscriptions
GameDial Premium is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details, your Apple ID or your name. The app asks Apple only whether a valid subscription exists.
Free trials, billing and cancellation are managed in your Apple ID settings.
Notifications
If you turn on release-day reminders, notifications are scheduled locally on your device from release dates already stored there. No notification content leaves your device.
With iCloud sync on, Apple sends the app silent background notifications to tell it your library changed on another device. These carry no content and come from Apple, not from us.
Children
GameDial is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
Because there are no accounts, there is no profile to export or delete. Deleting the app removes the copy on that device. If you had iCloud sync on, the iCloud copy is removed from your Apple ID storage settings, under GameDial.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
